Join as a Volunteer

We have vacancies for Unit and Area Volunteers, Visit the Vacancies page to see what roles we have.

Typically the joining process will be:

• Visit your chosen Unit
• Submit an online application
• Have an informal interview 
• Fill out DBS paperwork
• Start attending basic training (with unit ‘buddy’) 
• Get your DBS paperwork back 
• Attend a training weekend 
• Receive your uniform if your role requires it 

After you get your DBS paperwork back you will be on a 6-month probation. During this time you’ll complete the MTC mandatory adult training. After your completion of the mandatory training you can then attend external activities and camps.

The time from submitting your online application through to starting as a non uniformed volunteer with your chosen Unit will vary, but on average it takes around 3 weeks.
